O_o Especially as I now have not only Andros x Zhane slash... *eg* ...but Jason x Billy slash, too! *cuddles the PR chibis*

But holy hell is keeping track of 19 rangers plus ancillary characters difficult. O_o;;; I'm starting to feel like a camp counselor. :-P

Eh... That's kind of pathetic, isn't it? But at least I'm being productive every day! Getting my laptop up and running and getting "OpenOffice" on it is doing wonders for my being able to write. ^_^ Last night, in addition to actual writing, I actually reworked an entire section. Andros had been having a conversation with Kimberly earlier on in the fic and explained some things that, in retrospect, didn't really make sense for him to be explaining to her at that time. So, I moved that entire conversation to later on in the fic where he could explain it to everyone. *nodnod* Really, it'll make more sense that way when you read it. If... anyone ever does... *sheepish grin in Kristi's direction*

PRiS -- A Rose By Any Other Name

O_o;;; So... I held off temptation for a few months, at least. What can I say? I'm distracted by anything new and shiny... or old and shiny, as the case may be. I managed to submerge myself back into Power Ranger fandom and have been gorging on this wonderfully funny fic by "crazygirl47" on ff.net called Of Love and Bunnies. I've wanted to read this story since I first saw PR Dino Thunder. ^_^ Well, not this story, but this general plotline: what happens when "Dr. O's" new life, collides with "Tommy's" old one? Chaos! And throw in a dash of Kim-tension on the side? And Renee-chan is a happy bunny. ^____^ And these two writers have the funny in the show down to a tee. ^_^ I can only read this fic a few chapters at a time (and there are over 100!) because every few paragraphs or so, I'm laughing so hard my ribs hurt. *g*

So, naturally, it reminded me that way back when, I did start a sequel to "Forget Me Not", called "A Rose by Any Other Name". I had meant it to be the last in this trilogy of fanfics (off shoots, continuations and alterniverses not withstanding ^_^). However... to put where I am in perspective... Forget Me Not was 28269 words. Taking Root was 41729 words. ARBAON is now 30147 words... and I don't even think I'm halfway done. O_o;;; Seriously. We have a lot of angst and reorganization flying around, but the whole point of this fic was to get Andros to actually find Karone... and finish off the rest of the PRiS plot. Now grant you, I'm taking a lot of the plot out of order and context because I rewrote Zhane's awakening, but in equivalent terms... we're at about episode 16 (with episodes 20-22 taking place way earlier in the series) of 43. O_o;;; So, going at this rate, I have another 40000 - 50000 or so words to go before I finish this one off. O_O Suddenly... that seems daunting. So, I'm thinking that I may split this up into two fics instead of leaving it as one, because that's an awful lot of fic to fit into one, well... fic. :-P Maybe I'll take this up to reuniting Andros with Karone, then write a fourth fic to cover the rest of the PRiS series and the aftermath.

Ah... and why am I telling you anyway? It's not like anyone actually reads my PR fics... ^_^

Have been having a weird few weeks. My thoughts on a great many things have been attempting (and sometimes succeeding) to realign. I've also been remembering that there are things in life more important than petty stress and my own issues. Every now and then it's good to get smacked by that one.

So, where does that leave me? Well, I decided that it was time I wrote something. It didn't have to be a long something or an important something... just something. So, I pulled up my old steady, 15_minute_fic and looked to see what the word of the week was. It was this. O_O;;; I couldn't do it. I just couldn't. -.-;;; So, I checked last week's word. The first line popped into my head and away we went.

Here's the odd thing, though... I haven't seen this arc of Party of Five. I was vaguely aware that it had happened, but I haven't seen it (as once noted, to those of you paying attention, I've only seen Season 1). But in light of the little universe I've been slowly building for Charlie and Bailey, to arrive at Drabble number 10 from this post, I felt this was a key scene to include. Keeping in mind, of course, that that entire said universe is meant to be AU. But what's a slash AU without a little hurt/comfort? *waggles eyebrows*

For those of you who have no idea what's going on here, here's a page of ep. summaries for Po5. Check out Season 4 (where this would take place) -- the story arc in question starts at episode 7.

I... I don't even know where to go with that. For such a wonderful actor, such a powerful presence, a man who always seemed so vigorous, a man it seemed the ravages of time would never touch, to go out like that?? It's too hard for me to even contemplate.

David Carradine, Kwai Chang Cane, Clockwork... and, hell, even Bill... you will be missed.

Rest in Peace.

12:34 PM -- *giggles at the time* *stretches* OK. Have gotten through the angst-fest in Chapter 2. :-P I toned it down some, but actually felt that was an appropriate spot for angst. I corrected my timeline manipulation to some extent, debated whether or not Galaxy should stand as an Appaloosa... as they didn't exist as a breed until the Nez Perce bred them in America in the latter half of the 2nd millennium... decided that this story takes place in an alternate world and I liked his description too much to change it. So... phthbbbbbt. ^_^ Must get ready to go to work now. *waves* Here's hoping to finish Ch. 2 when I get home!

10:06 PM -- OK... I think I'm done. I tentatively cut the last two scenes from this chapter, because I'm not certain they really should be there. I think the journey to Mt. Taikyouku needs some elaborating and I'm really not liking what I did with those scenes. They need a major overhaul and I think they're better off at the beginning of Chapter 3. *nodnod* We'll see what the beta-reader thinks. ^_^

12:09 AM -- Eh-heh... got distracted by Star Trek ficcage and Kaulitz-twins picspam... Sorry. ^_^

OK... I just had to share this... *gigglesnort* First off, let me say that Sims is just as addictive to me as it ever was. I find that I can not play it for less than 3 hours at a stretch and often do play it for more like 4-7 hours at a stretch. O_O But I digress.

My most recent set of Sims are Star Trek TOS Sims. ^_^ I have Kirk and Spock, McCoy and Chapel living in a house. As, quite literally, the fathers of slash fanfic Kirk and Spock are married. Also (because I wanted two Sims who could actually have a child), I hooked up Bones and Christine -- not that I'm a fan of the pairing, mind you. Then I set Kirk and Bones up as brothers to give them an excuse to be sharing a house. Career tracks as follows:

Jim = Military
Spock = Scientist
Bones = Medical (of course ^_^)
Christine = business (didn't want two doctors in the family)

Bones and Christine have now had two children: Joanna (McCoy's actual daughter) and David Marcus (so Jim could also vicariously have his son).

So why tell you all this? Well... something happened in my game last night that caused me to nearly fall off my chair I was laughing so hard. Spock was up on the balcony using his telescope and gaining a few logic points... when he was abducted by aliens.

I'll repeat that.

Spock was abducted by aliens.

But the best part is what happened a day or two later. All of a sudden, the action shifted to Spock showing a shocked look... and a slightly bulging tummy.

That's right. *giggles* My Sims game turned into an mpreg fanfic. *dies* And then he gave birth to not one cute little alien baby... but two. They're green *snickers* and have pointy ears. ^_^ Just like their "mommy". And being as we already had David, I named them George and Sam (Jim's father and brother).

Can't wait to see what happens next! *eg*

Still plugging away. ^_^ Finally have a beta-reader offer (yeah!), so trying to put together something to send her... and trying desperately to stuff the new TOS Kirk and Spock chibis under a rug so they'll stop harassing me for fic. Maybe if I stopped marathoning TOS episodes in my spare time?

Nah.

Saw the new Star Trek movie Saturday night. I... still don't entirely have a handle on how I feel about it. *grumbles* I will say this, though. On some level, I was so disturbed by the things I liked about the movie that when I got home at 1 AM, I had to go watch "City on the Edge of Forever" to get the movie out of my head. I left that movie feeling like I'd just watched my best friend die. Which makes no sense, because I actually did enjoy the movie. The new cast was frickin' awesome and the new character interpretations, though in some cases similar, were different yet appropriate for this new century. I mean... anyone who didn't love the way Uhura *coughs* got assigned *coughs* to the Enterprise... *eg* And ( Spoiler ) Again, I understand it's a new interpretation of the character that, again, is appropriate for this century, but still... it disturbed me.

Even though I know that this is alternate timeline... I guess the flat out truth is that in the past, whenever a new "wrong" timeline has subsumed the current one, our intrepid band of heroes would go back and fix it. This time, the universe got fucked seven ways to Sunday... and no one cares. No one's going to fix it. Even "Spock Prime" is just accepting things the way that they are. You can bet your ass that if it had been Jim Kirk who had been flung back in time, he'd have moved Heaven and Earth to set time back on its appropriate path. That won't happen this time. And so, even though I do admit that I liked the movie, the new cast did some serious justice to the characters ((Oh Karl Urban, Hell Yeah! I knew I loved you for a reason! *_* *_*)), and the new wonderful tension/angst-ridden start to Kirk and Spock's friendship will give me many pleasant thoughts *waggles eyebrows* ((though, damn it!, ( Spoiler )*sigh*))...

...I still feel like this isn't my Trek. I feel like an impostor killed my Star Trek and slipped into it's place. And not only did no one notice... everyone welcomed the change. Thus this feeling of mourning. But the thing that's causing me the most angst... there's a significant part of me that also likes this new little sister to my favorite show. ;_; Thus the feelings of conflict. I want to like the new Trek, because it really did live up to the original...

I'll get there. Eventually. :-P

And it's that time again. O_o;;; For some G-d forsaken reason, I've decided I'm ready to tackle Chapter 2.

OK, the reality? My week has really sucked, then someone wrote me fanmail. *dimples* Reminded me that yes, I do indeed have 7 other chapters to rewrite... *cries* ...and I should get a move on.

*cracks knuckles* So... here we go. Original word count on Chapter 2 is 10822. One word into the first scene and I realized... it's all gotta go. The whole damned scene. *boggles* The basic plot structure can stand, but not one bit of the actual wordage can remain. Dear Lord, I hope the rest of this thing isn't that bad...

Last night was the first night of Passover (and yeah, I eat rice over Passover, so sue me ^_^) and my mother sent me home with a ton of leftovers. ^_^ So, I thought I'd change it up a little today. Leftovers are our friends! I had the broccoli and onigiri (made two days ago) in my own fridge, the rest is all from dinner last night! ^_^ And I even managed to keep it close to the 1:1:1 ratio (carb : veggie/fruit : protein)! Tomorrow I'm going to do something with the sweet potatoes... ^_^
